Character
Name: Bart Torgal
Canon: Subnautica
Canon point: Post-death, pre-canon
CRAU?: from Pumpkin Hollow
Age: 20
History: Bart was created by his father in pursuit of being the "legitimate" heir of the shipping and R&D-focused Torgal Corp in place of less satisfactory genetic siblings. He accompanied his father Paul Torgal on route to a station where Bart would serve as Chief Operating Officer, presumably as second in command. This position would very likely have been an uncomfortable one for Bart, as he had little experience and no interest in a command position. He was much more comfortable taking orders than giving them, preferring instead to immerse himself in biological study and direct interaction with the environment. He was given cerebral implants and advanced education to enable him to perform his duties, though he tended to use them more for studying the natural world than anything that his father had in mind.
After crashing on 4546B, Bart immediately set to finding a way to ensure that the only survivors of the wreck (himself, his father, and Marguerit Maida, his father's hired mercenary bodyguard) caused by the planetside quarantine platform wouldn't starve by determining which plants were safe to eat and which ones were not, discovering that most of them were toxic. He eventually managed to find and successfully cultivate several indigenous plants, and used his limited technical skills to devise a purification system that would clean the surrounding seawater to create potable water for them to drink. He observed symbiotic relationships in the ecosystem, and found ways to exploit this for further technological developments.
At the furthest point down in the ocean in searching for the source of a mysterious signal picked up by their equipment, Bart lost both his father and the mercenary that had been hired to protect them due to a large predator attack that half-destroyed their habitat. Bart survived for some time after surfacing, but had been very ill with the Kharaa bacterium and eventually succumbed to it, though he tried desperately to live on his own and find a way to cure himself. He'd begun to think he was hallucinating as the Sea Emporer attempted to make contact with him, and eventually succumbed to the illness.
Personality: Bart is kind, bright and enthusiastic about animals, plants, and watching the world around him. He has a lot of love for the world and the people in it, though he has been a bit chewed up and spat back out by it all. He's a bit skittish about speaking up and voicing his displeasure unless it's in a private forum after how often he's been hurt, shut down, ignored, or abandoned.
Powers and abilities: Keen sense of observation and mental processing thanks to the cerebral implants
Chosen faction: Undine
Suitability: While Bart's original setting is very high-tech, he is coming here from a similarly high-fantasy/low-tech game as a CRAU and had been there long enough to have become acclimated to it, relishing the opportunity to interact with the environment in that more low-tech way rather than relying on space-age equipment. It's an exciting new world, and being under the ocean will reinvigorate that part of his studies.

Questions, comments, and concerns: If there is anything that needs to actually be done or arranged with Bart's implants PLEASE let me know! They had been rendered inert by Pumpkin Hollow's rules/magic, so if that's something that needs to be maintained here, I can do that!
